font-size:smaller\">\t<\/span>At the same meeting, following the adoption of resolution 444 (1979), the President made the following statement (S\/13043) on behalf of the Council:<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"margin-left:40px;\">\n\t\t\t\t<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\" style=\"white-space:pre; font-size:smaller\">\t<\/span>&quot;The Security Council, after considering the report of the Secretary-General in document S\/13026 and Corr.1, paid special attention, at its meeting on 19 January 1979, to the question of the restoration of the authority of the Lebanese Government over the entire territory of Southern Lebanon.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"margin-left:40px;\">\n\t\t\t\t<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\" style=\"white-space:pre; font-size:smaller\">\t<\/span>&quot;The Council takes note of the recent efforts made by the Government of Lebanon to establish a presence in the southern part of the country and expresses the hope that the continuation and expansion of such activities will be encouraged.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"margin-left:40px;\">\n\t\t\t\t<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\" style=\"white-space:pre; font-size:smaller\">\t<\/span>&quot;The Council accordingly suggests that the Government of Lebanon, in consultation with the Secretary-General, should draw up a phased programme of activities to be carried out over the next three months to promote the restoration of its authority.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"margin-left:40px;\">\n\t\t\t\t<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\" style=\"white-space:pre;
