PRESERVATION AND PRESENTATION OF THE CULTURAL HERITAG<\/strong>E<\/p><\/div>\n

Res. 3.343<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>The General Conference,<\/i>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Aware<\/i> of the exceptional importance of the cultural property in the old city of Jerusalem, particularly the Holy Places, not only to the States directly concerned but to all humanity, on account of their artistic, historical and religious value,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Noting <\/i>resolution 2253 (ES-V) adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 4 July l967,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>l.  Addresses <\/i>an urgent international appeal in accordance with the said United Nations resolution, calling upon Israel:<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t   (a)  to preserve scrupulously all the sites, buildings, and other cultural properties, especially in the old city of Jerusalem;\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t   (b)  to desist from any archaeological excavations, transfer of such properties and changing of their features on their cultural and historical character;\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>2.  Invites <\/i>the Director-General to use all the influence and means at his disposal, in co-operation with all parties concerned, to ensure the best possible implementation of this resolution.<\/p><\/div>\n
