\t<\/span>The Security Council,<\/i><\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>Recalling<\/i> all its previous relevant resolutions on the situation in the Middle East, including 242 (1967), 338 (1973) and 350 (1974),<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Expressing <\/i>its grave concern with the escalating situation in the Middle East,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Having considered <\/i>the contents of the letter dated 5 October 2003 from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Syrian Arab Republic (S\/2003\/939, annex),<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>1.\t<\/span>Strongly condemns<\/i> the military aggression carried out by Israel against the sovereignty and territory of the Syrian Arab Republic on 5 October 2003, in violation of the Charter of the United Nations, the rules and principles of international law, and relevant Security Council resolutions;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>2.\t<\/span>Considers <\/i>that these acts constitute a clear violation of the agreement on disengagement between Israeli and Syrian forces of 31 May 1974;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>3.\t<\/span>Demands<\/i> that Israel desist from any such acts or threats which might lead to a dangerous deterioration that threatens regional and international peace and security, and exposes the already deteriorating situation in the region to dire consequences;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>4.\t<\/span>Requests<\/i> the Secretary-General to report to the Security Council on Israel's compliance with this resolution within one month of the date of its adoption;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>5.\t<\/span>Decides<\/i> to remain seized of the matter.<\/p><\/div>\n
