Resolution A23-5 (The airport of Jerusalem)<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Whereas Israel passed a legislation altering the geographic, demographic, and historic character and status of Jerusalem; <\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

Whereas Jerusalem airport is an integral part of Jerusalem which lies in the occupied Arab territories; <\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

Whereas the Security Council of the United Nations, in its Resolution No. 478 of 20 August 1980, considered these Israeli measures null and void; <\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

Whereas Article 5 of the Agreement concluded between the United Nations and ICAO, contained in Doc 7970, affirms the obligation of ICAO to work toward the realization of United Nations objectives; <\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

Whereas the ICAO Assembly Resolution A21-7 of 1974 recognizes the Arab sovereignty over Jerusalem Airport; <\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

Whereas the Council, in its 86th Session (December 1975), deeply deplored the Israeli disregard of the above- mentioned Assembly resolution; <\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

Whereas the Israeli measures are contrary to the ICAO Assembly Resolution A21-7 of 1974, and the Council decision taken at its 86th Session on 17 December 1975; <\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

Whereas Israel persists in challenging and defying ICAO resolutions; <\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

The Assembly <\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

1.\t<\/span>Reaffirms its Resolution A21-7 (1974) and the Council decision taken at its 86th Session, on 17 December 1975. <\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

2.\t<\/span>Considers the alteration of geographic, demographic and historic character and status of Jerusalem null and void. <\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

3.\t<\/span>Deeply deplores the action of Israel in formally annexing Jerusalem including its airport. <\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

4.\t<\/span>Urges Israel to rescind such measures and abide by the ICAO Assembly resolutions. <\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

5.\t<\/span>Directs the Council to take the necessary measures to implement Assembly Resolution A21-7 and Council decision taken at its 86th Session on 17 December 1975. <\/p><\/div>\n
