Children in the Occupied Palestinian Territory were subjected to inappropriate conditions of detention and often denied access to health and education, in clear violation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. <\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;padding-top:10px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">29.<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\" style=\"white-space:pre; font-size:smaller\">\t<\/span>It was regrettable that the Syrian Arab Republic had taken no decisive steps towards political liberalization and that censorship, strict restraints on political activities and arrests of political activists were common practices. The Palestinian people had been suffering under Israeli oppression for over half a century. The Israeli Government consistently ignored Security Council resolutions and the Fourth Geneva Convention, destroying property and quite openly subjecting civilians to all kinds of torture and inhuman treatment.
