   Human rights situation of the Lebanese detainees in Israel<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

    Note by the Secretary-General<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

1.   In its decision 2003\/… of 24 July 2003,<\/span>1<\/sup><\/span> the Economic and Social Council, taking note of Commission on Human Rights resolution <\/span>2003\/8<\/a> of 16 April 2003,<\/span>2<\/sup><\/span> on the human rights situation of the Lebanese detainees in Israel, endorsed the Commission’s decision to request the Secretary-General to bring Commission resolution 2003\/8 to the attention of the Government of Israel and to call upon it 51ÁÔÆæ its provisions, and to report to the Assembly at its fifty-eighth session on the results of his efforts in that regard.<\/span> <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

2.   In view of the above-mentioned requests, the Secretary-General addressed a note verbale to the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Israel on 10 June 2003.<\/span> <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

3.   No reply had been received at the time of the preparation of the present note. <\/p><\/div>\n
