\t<\/span>Pursuant to rule 11 of the provisional rules of procedure of the Security Council, the Secretary-General is submitting the following summary statement.<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>In a letter dated 25 February 1985 (<\/span>S\/16983<\/a>), the representative of Lebanon requested that the Security Council be urgently convened to consider the continuing acts of aggression and abusive practices of Israeli occupying forces in southern Lebanon, the western Bekaa and the Hashaya district. The Security Council resumed its consideration of the item at its 2168th meeting, held on 28 February 1985, on the basis of the request of Lebanon. In the course of the meeting, the President, with the consent of the Council invited the representatives of Lebanon, Israel, Qatar and the Syrian Arab Republic, at their request, to participate in the discussion without the right to vote. In accordance with the request dated 28 February 1985 from Qatar (S\/16989), the Security Council extended an invitation, under rule 39 of its provisional rules of procedure, to Mr. Clovis Maksoud. <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n
