Permanent Mission of Nepal to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>I have the honour to transmit to you the text of the Declaration adopted by the heads of State or Government of the States members of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) at the eleventh SAARC Summit held in Kathmandu from 4 to 6 January 2002 (see annex).<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

\t<\/span>I shall be grateful if the text of the present letter and its annex could be circulated as a document of the General Assembly under agenda items 24, 26, 27, 29, 41, 42, 49, 58, 59, 60, 61, 74, 76, 95, 96, 97, 98, 105, 106, 107, 108, 112, 113, 115 and 166 of the fifty-sixth session, and of the Security Council. <\/p><\/div>\n

38.\t<\/span>The Heads of State or Government expressed concern over the continued violence and bloodshed in the Middle East, and the set backs suffered by the peace process.  They reaffirmed their support for the achievement of a just, lasting and comprehensive peace based on Security Council resolution <\/span>242 (1967)<\/a> and resolution <\/span>338 (1973)<\/a> and the establishment of a sovereign Palestine State under the leadership of PLO, which could coexist with its neighbours in peace, security and harmony.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n
