\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>of the Population of the Occupied Territories<\/strong>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

\t<\/span>The General Assembly,<\/i><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Guided<\/i> by the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Bearing in mind<\/i> the provisions of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the provisions of the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian persons in Time of War, of 12 August 1949,1<\/u>\/<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Recalling<\/i> Security Council resolutions 237 (1967) of 14 June 1967 and 259 (1968) of 27 September 1968,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Recalling<\/i> also its resolutions 2252 (ES-V) of 4 July 1967, 2443 (XXIII) and 2452 A (XXIII) of 19 December 1968, 2535 B (XXIV) of 10 December 1969 and 2672 D (XXV) of 8 December 1970,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Further  recalling <\/i> Commission  on  Human  Rights  resolutions  6  (XXIV) of 27 February 1968,2<\/u>\/ 6 (XXV) of 4 March 1969 3<\/u>\/ and 10 (XXVI) of 23 March 1970,4<\/u>\/ the telegram of 8 March 1968 dispatched by the Commission to the Israeli authorities,5<\/u>\/ the relevant resolutions of the International Conference on Human Rights held at Teheran in 1968,6<\/u>\/ Economic and Social Council resolution 1515 (XLVIII), adopted on 28 May 1970 on the recommendation of the Commission on the Status of Women,7<\/u>\/ and the other relevant resolutions of the Economic and Social Council, the United nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization and the World Health Organization,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Having considered<\/i> the report of the Special Committee to Investigate Israeli Practices  Affecting  the Human Rights of the Population of the Occupied Territories,8<\/u>\/<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Noting with regret<\/i> that the provisions of the above-mentioned resolutions have not been implemented by the Israeli authorities,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Gravely concerned<\/i> for the safety, welfare and security of the inhabitants of the Arab territories under military occupation by Israel,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>1.\t<\/span>Expresses its sincere appreciation<\/i> to the Special Committee to Investigate Israeli Practices Affecting the Human Rights of the Population of the Occupied Territories and to its members for their efforts in performing the task assigned to them;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>2.\t<\/span>Calls upon<\/i> the Government of Israel immediately to implement the recommendations of the special Committee embodied in its report and 51ÁÔÆæ its obligations under the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, of 12 August 1949, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the relevant resolutions adopted by the various international organizations;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>3.\t<\/span>Requests<\/i> the Special Committee, pending the early termination of the Israeli occupation of Arab territories, to continue its work and to consult, as appropriate, with the International Committee of the Red Cross in order to ensure the safeguarding of the human rights of the population of the occupied territories;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>4.\t<\/span>Urges<\/i> the Government of Israel to receive the Special Committee, co-operate with it and facilitate its work;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>5.\t<\/span>Requests<\/i> the Special Committee to report to the Secretary-General as soon as possible and whenever the need arises thereafter;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>6.\t<\/span>Requests<\/i> the Secretary-General to provide the Special Committee with all the necessary facilities for the continued performance of its tasks;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>7.\t<\/span>Decides<\/i> to inscribe on the provisional agenda of its twenty-sixth session an item entitled "Report (or reports) of the Special Committee to Investigate Israeli Practices Affecting the Human Rights of the Population of the Occupied Territories".<\/p><\/div>\n
