CORRECTION<\/p><\/div>\n

     In Press Release GA\/PAL\/16 of 13 April, the second and fifth paragraphs  <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

 on page 3, summarizing a statement by V.N. Martynenko (Ukraine), should read   <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

 as follows:<\/p><\/div>\n

     Second Paragraph<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

     He referred to the report to the 25th Congress of the Communist Party of<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

the Soviet Union by Leonid Brezhnev, General Secretary of the Party's Central<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Committee who stated:  "As the co-Chairman of the Geneva Conference, the USSR<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

is prepared to co-operate in all efforts to reach an effective settlement of<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

the conflict.  We are prepared to participate in international guarantees of<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

the security and inviolability of the frontiers of all Middle East countries<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

either in the United Nations framework or on some other basis.  Since we are<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

on the subject, it is our opinion, that Britain and France, too, could<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

participate in such guarantees along with the USSR and the United States. This<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

would only benefit matters."  He hoped this position of the USSR would be<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

reflected in the Committee's recommendations.<\/p><\/div>\n

     Fifth Paragraph<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

     Referring to a proposal to seek legal advice from the World Court on<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

relevant Israeli actions since 1948, he said his delegation had reservations<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

about the objectivity of the Court's advisory opinions.  Beyond this and<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

some other reservations, he concluded, his delegation found the draft<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

recommendations before the Committee acceptable.<\/p><\/div>\n
