Introduction<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;padding-bottom:5px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">1.<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\" style=\"white-space:pre; font-size:smaller\">\t<\/span>At its 2nd plenary meeting, on 19 September 2014, the General Assembly, on the recommendation of the General Committee, decided to include in the agenda of its sixty-ninth session the item entitled &#8220;Permanent sovereignty of the Palestinian people in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and of the Arab population in the occupied Syrian Golan over their natural resources&#8221; and to allocate it to the Second Committee.<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;padding-bottom:5px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">2.<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\" style=\"white-space:pre; font-size:smaller\">\t<\/span>The Second Committee considered the item at its 29th, 30th and 31st meetings, on 4, 5 and 13 November 2014. An account of the Committee&#39;s consideration of the item is contained in the relevant summary records (A\/C.2\/69\/SR.29-31).&nbsp;Attention is also drawn to the general debate held by the Committee at its 2nd to 6th meetings, from 7 to 9 October (see&nbsp;A\/C.2\/69\/SR.2-6).<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">3.<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\" style=\"white-space:pre; font-size:smaller\">\t<\/span>For its consideration of the item, the Committee had before it the following documents:<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align:left;padding-bottom:5px;margin-left:40px;\">\n\t\t\t\t<span style=\"color:#000000;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">(a)<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\" style=\"white-space:pre; font-size:smaller\">\t<\/span>Relevant chapters of the report of the Economic and Social Council for 2014<\/span><span style=\"color:#0000ff;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">&nbsp;(A\/69\/3);<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align:left;margin-left:40px;\">\n\t\t\t\t<span style=\"color:#000000;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">(b)<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\" style=\"white-space:pre; font-size:smaller\">\t<\/span>Note by the Secretary-General transmitting the report prepared by the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia on the economic and social repercussions of the Israeli occupation on the living conditions of the Palestinian people in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and the Arab population in the occupied Syrian Golan<\/span><span style=\"color:#0000ff;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/unispal.un.org\/pdfs\/99684A2CC6BE4F6F85257CE80051E7E7.pdf\" style=\"color:#0000ff;text-align:left;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">(A\/69\/81-E\/2014\/13).<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;padding-bottom:5px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">4.<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\" style=\"white-space:pre; font-size:smaller\">\t<\/span>At the 29th meeting, on 4 November, the Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia made an introductory statement (see A\/C.2\/69\/SR.29).<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align:left;padding-bottom:6px;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;font-size:12pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\"><strong>II.<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\" style=\"white-space:pre; font-size:smaller\">\t<\/span>Consideration of draft resolution<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000;font-size:12pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\"><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/unispal.un.org\/pdfs\/5DDA070BEBB5C94B85257D87006B63DB.pdf\" style=\"color:#0000ff;text-align:left;padding-bottom:6px;font-size:12pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\"><strong>A\/C.2\/69\/L.33<\/strong><\/a><\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align:left;padding-bottom:5px;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">5. At the 30th meeting, on 5 November, the representative of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, on behalf of the States Members of the United Nations that are members of the Group of 77 and China, introduced a draft resolution entitled &#8220;Permanent sovereignty of the Palestinian people in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and of the Arab population in the occupied Syrian Golan over their natural resources&#8221;.<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/unispal.un.org\/pdfs\/5DDA070BEBB5C94B85257D87006B63DB.pdf\" style=\"color:#0000ff;text-align:left;padding-bottom:5px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">&nbsp;(A\/C.2\/69\/L.33).&nbsp;<\/a><span style=\"color:#000000;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">Subsequently, Azerbaijan and Turkey joined in sponsoring the draft resolution.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;padding-bottom:5px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">6.<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\" style=\"white-space:pre; font-size:smaller\">\t<\/span>At its 31st meeting, on 13 November, the Committee was informed that the draft resolution had no programme budget implications.<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align:left;padding-bottom:5px;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">7.<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\" style=\"white-space:pre; font-size:smaller\">\t<\/span>At the same meeting, the Committee adopted draft resolution<\/span><span style=\"color:#0000ff;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/unispal.un.org\/pdfs\/5DDA070BEBB5C94B85257D87006B63DB.pdf\" style=\"color:#0000ff;text-align:left;padding-bottom:5px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">A\/C.2\/69\/L.33<\/a><span style=\"color:#0000ff;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"color:#000000;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">by a recorded vote of 153 to 5, with 8 abstentions (see para. 10).
