 <\/strong><\/span> <\/span>  The Security Council resumed its consideration of the item at its 5339th meeting, held on 21 December 2005 in accordance with the understanding reached in its prior consultations, having before it the report of the Secretary-General on the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (S\/2005\/767). <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

  The President drew attention to a draft resolution (S\/2005\/801) that had been prepared in the course of the Council’s prior consultations. <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

  The Security Council proceeded to vote on draft resolution S\/2005\/801, and adopted it unanimously as resolution 1648 (2005) (for the text, see S\/RES\/1648 (2005); to be issued in Official Records of the Security Council, Resolutions and Decisions of the Security Council, 1 August 2005-31 July 2006 <\/i>).<\/p><\/div>\n

  The President stated that, following consultations of the Council, he had been authorized to make a statement on behalf of the Council and read out the text of that statement (for the text, see S\/PRST\/2005\/65; to be issued in Official Records of the Security Council, Resolutions and Decisions of the Security Council, 1 August 2005-31 July 2006 <\/i>).<\/p><\/div>\n
