NOTE: Any corrections of the originals of speeches in this record provided for in rule 47 of the rules of procedure of the Trusteeship Council should be submitted in writing within two working days to Mr. E. Delavenay, Director, Editorial Division, Room CC-87, Lake Success. Corrections should be accompanied by or incorporated in a letter written on headed notepaper and enclosed in an envelope marked "Urgent" and bearing the appropriate document symbol number.<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>The PRESIDENT:  I declare the eighth meeting of the second session of the Trusteeship Council open.<\/p><\/div>\n

WORKING COMMITTEE ON JERUSALEM<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

\t<\/span>The PRESIDENT:  Before we proceed with our consideration of the Western Samoan Report, I wish to make an announcement concerning the Working Committee on Jerusalem.  The members of the Committee met this morning. They elected as their Chairman Mr. Gerig, the representative of the United States.  They elected as their Vice -Chairman Sir Alan Bums, the representative of the United Kingdom.  They are getting down to earnest work and will continue that work throughout our session.  In order to give them a little more time, I think it would be advisable if the Trusteeship Council postponed its meetings for a half-hour each day; that is, if it met at 2:30 p.m. rather than at 2:00 p.m.  That would give to the Working Committee on Jerusalem a little longer time in the morning, and I hope that course will not seriously Interfere with the Council's work.  In other words, the Trusteeship Council will meet hereafter each day at 2:30 p.m. rather than at 2:00 p.m.  The Working Committee on Jerusalem will meet tomorrow morning in Conference Room 4.  The meeting will be held tomorrow at 11:00, but probably, thereafter it may meet earlier in the morning.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
