Draft resolution on the human rights situation in southern Lebanon and the western Bekaa<\/u> (E\/CN.4\/1995\/L.76)<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

53.\t<\/span>Mr. BEBARS<\/u> (Egypt), introducing the draft resolution on behalf of the sponsors, which had been joined by Cuba and Pakistan, said that it was in keeping with the one already adopted by the Commission on the Middle East peace process (E\/CN.4\/1995\/L.13).  It had taken into account the developments in the peace process in the Middle East and, in contrast with the similar resolution adopted the previous year, contained no expressions of condemnation.  Accordingly, his delegation hoped it could be adopted without a vote.  He drew attention to an amendment to the Arabic text of the draft resolution.  In the second line of paragraph 1, the word "detention" ("i'tiqal<\/u>"), should be inserted after the word "kidnapping" ("khatf<\/u>").<\/p><\/div>\n
