\n\t\t\t\tBy resolution 2005\/51<\/strong>, the Council requested the Secretary-General to submit to the General Assembly at its sixtieth session, through the Council, a report on the implementation of the resolution and to continue to include in the report of the United Nations Special Coordinator an update on the living conditions of the Palestinian people, in collaboration with relevant United Nations agencies.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

\n\t\t\t\t91.\t<\/span>The Council held a discussion on the economic and social repercussions of the Israeli occupation on the living conditions of the Palestinian people in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including Jerusalem, and the Arab population in the occupied Syrian Golan (agenda item 11) at its 31st, 35th and 40th meetings, on 19, 21 and 27 July 2005 (for the discussion, see E\/2005\/SR.31, 35 and 40). It had before it a note by the Secretary-General transmitting the report prepared by the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia on the economic and social repercussions of the Israeli occupation on the living conditions of the Palestinian people in the occupied Palestinian territory, including Jerusalem, and of the Arab population in the occupied Syrian Golan (A\/60\/65-E\/2005\/13).\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t92.\t<\/span>At the 31st meeting, on 19 July, the Chief of the Regional Commissions New York Office made an introductory statement (see E\/2005\/SR.31).\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

\n\t\t\t\t93.\t<\/span>Under agenda item 11, the Council adopted resolution 2005\/51 and decision 2005\/304.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

\n\t\t\t\t94.\t<\/span>At its 35th meeting, on 21 July, the representative of Tunisia, on behalf of Algeria,<\/span>1<\/sup><\/span> Djibouti,<\/span>1<\/sup><\/span> Egypt,<\/span>1<\/sup><\/span> Jordan,<\/span>1<\/sup><\/span> Kuwait,<\/span>1<\/sup><\/span> Lebanon,<\/span>1<\/sup><\/span> Malaysia, Mauritania,<\/span>1<\/sup><\/span> Morocco,<\/span>1<\/sup><\/span> Oman,<\/span>1<\/sup><\/span> Qatar,<\/span>1<\/sup><\/span> Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Somalia,<\/span>1<\/sup><\/span> South Africa, the Sudan,<\/span>1<\/sup><\/span> Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, Yemen<\/span>1<\/sup><\/span> and Palestine, introduced a draft resolution entitled “Economic and social repercussions of the Israeli occupation on the living conditions of the Palestinian people in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including Jerusalem, and the Arab population in the occupied Syrian Golan” (E\/2005\/L.24).<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t95.\t<\/span>At its 40th meeting, on 27 July, the Council had before it a revised text of the draft resolution (E\/2005\/L.24\/Rev.1) which was introduced by the representative of Tunisia, on behalf of the same sponsors as well as Iraq, Cuba, Indonesia and Namibia, and orally revised the draft resolution as follows:\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>(a)\t<\/span>In the thirteenth preambular paragraph, in the penultimate line, the words “for full respect of the legal” were replaced by the words “51ÁÔÆæ the”;\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>(b)\t<\/span>In the final preambular paragraph, the last word, “quartet”, should be “Quartet”.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t96.\t<\/span>At the same meeting, the Council adopted the revised draft resolution, as further revised orally, by a recorded vote of 49 to 2, with 1 abstention. See Council resolution 2005\/51. The voting was as follows:\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
