12 (II).  Palestine Liberation Organization<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

The Economic Commission for Western Asia,<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

In accordance with<\/u> General Assembly resolution 3237 (XXIX) of 22 November 1974, "by which the Palestine Liberation Organization was accorded the status of observer at the sessions of the General Assembly and the right to participate in the work of all conferences and meetings convened under the auspices of other organs and institutions of the United Nations in the capacity of observer,<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Desiring<\/u> to afford the Palestinian Arab people an opportunity to benefit fro the Commission's activities in the fields of planning, studies, training and economic and social development,<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Considering<\/u> that that people would enjoy the benefit of the Commission's activities and services, since it belongs geographically and culturally to the region, were it not prevented, by the continuing Zionist aggression to which it is exposed, from exercising its right to self-determination, independence and national sovereignty in its territory,<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

1.\t<\/span>Decides<\/u> to accord the Palestine Liberation Organization the status of permanent observer and invites it on that basis to participate in all future sessions and activities of the Commission;<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

2.\t<\/span>Decides further<\/u> to enable the Palestine Liberation Organization to avail itself of the Commission's services in connexion with the conduct of studies and the provision of advice and training, and in connexion with all other areas within the Commission's competence and capacity;<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

3.\t<\/span>Requests<\/u> the Executive Secretary to prepare a report on the requirements for the conduct of a general study of the economic and social situation and potential of the Palestinian Arab people in the region of Western Asia and to submit the report to the Commission at its next regular session.<\/p><\/div>\n
