75.  Mr. Afifi<\/strong> (Egypt) hoped that the General Assembly would continue to support efforts to promote children’s rights and encourage cooperation between Governments, civil society and international institutions to mobilize the necessary resources to ensure the protection of children, who constituted about one third of the population of the world, and to enable them to enjoy their full human rights. <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

76.   In that connection, he referred to the plight of Palestinian children living under occupation who were thereby prevented from exercising their fundamental human rights, the most elementary right being the right to live in freedom. The international community had a role to play in helping Palestinian children to live in families that were not in constant fear of losing their homes, livelihood or freedom. <\/p><\/div>\n
