48\/78.  <\/strong>Israeli nuclear armament<\/u><\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>The General Assembly<\/u>,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Bearing in mind<\/u> relevant United Nations resolutions,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Taking note<\/u> of relevant resolutions adopted by the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency, the latest of which is GC(XXXVII)\/RES\/627 of 1 October 1993,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Aware<\/u> of the recent positive developments in the Middle East peace process,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>1.\t<\/span>Calls upon<\/u> Israel to renounce possession of nuclear weapons and to accede to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons; 1<\/u>\/<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>2.\t<\/span>Calls upon<\/u> the States of the region to place all their nuclear facilities under International Atomic Energy Agency safeguards;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>3.\t<\/span>Requests<\/u> the Secretary-General to report to the General Assembly on the implementation of the present resolution;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>4.\t<\/span>Decides<\/u> to include in the provisional agenda of its forty-ninth session the item entitled "Israeli nuclear armament".<\/p><\/div>\n
