Highlights
? On 30 January, Israeli authorities announced that the Rafah Crossing will reopen in both directions on 01 February for limited movement of people, subject to prior security clearance. The crossing will operate in coordination with Egypt and under EU supervision.
? On 20 January, a major fibre break between the ¡°Yellow Line¡± and the Israeli border east of Khan Yunis caused a significant connectivity outage in Gaza, further straining an already fragile network. Through ETC coordination and advocacy, Internet Service Provider (ISP) repair teams received access from 23 to 24 January, enabling the restoration of the link and the full return of connectivity services.
? ETC and partners relocated the digital VHF radio repeater from the WFP guesthouse in Deir Al Balah to the Khan Yunis Training Centre (KYTC), significantly improving coverage across southern Gaza. Installation was completed on 07 January, and work is now underway to reconfigure and test the secure link to the Jerusalem Security Operations Centre (JSOC).
