Human rights situation of Lebanese detainees in Israel

Note by the Secretary-General **

1.   In decision 2002/244 of 25 July 2002, the Economic and Social Council, taking note of Commission on Human Rights resolution 2002/10 of 19 April 2002,¹ on the human rights situation of Lebanese detainees in Israel, endorsed the decision of the Commission to request the Secretary-General to bring the resolution to the attention of the Government of Israel and to call upon it 51猎奇 its provisions, and to report to the Assembly at its fifty-seventh session on the results of his efforts in that regard.

2.   In view of the above-mentioned requests, the Secretary-General addressed a note verbale to the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Israel on 10 June 2002. 

3.   No reply had been received at the time of the preparation of the present note.
