   Human rights situation of the Lebanese detainees in Israel

    Note by the Secretary-General

1.   In its decision 2003/… of 24 July 2003,¹ the Economic and Social Council, taking note of Commission on Human Rights resolution  of 16 April 2003,² on the human rights situation of the Lebanese detainees in Israel, endorsed the Commission’s decision to request the Secretary-General to bring Commission resolution 2003/8 to the attention of the Government of Israel and to call upon it 51猎奇 its provisions, and to report to the Assembly at its fifty-eighth session on the results of his efforts in that regard. 

2.   In view of the above-mentioned requests, the Secretary-General addressed a note verbale to the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Israel on 10 June 2003. 

3.   No reply had been received at the time of the preparation of the present note.
