The Sustainable Development Goals are all interconnected and in order to achieve the 2030 Agenda, we have to ensure that all the Goals are met. The United Nations have ongoing campaigns that highlights the work that relates specifically to some of these Goals.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Climate<\/h2><\/div>
<\/a><\/span><\/div><\/div>

Goal 13<\/a> calls for urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts. To address climate change, countries adopted the Paris Agreement to limit global temperature rise to well below 2 degrees Celsius. The Climate Action Summit<\/a> in September 2019 delivered important new actions, a surge in climate momentum, and a clear destination: 45% emissions cuts by 2030 on the way to a carbon neutral world by 2050. The Secretary-General\u2019s report<\/a> on the outcomes of the Summit highlights the way forward in 2020, and outlines ten priority areas of action.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Gender Equality<\/h2><\/div>
<\/a><\/span><\/div><\/div>

Violence against women and girls is one of the most widespread, persistent and devastating human rights violations in our world today.\u00a0Gender inequality persists worldwide. Achieving gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls will require more vigorous efforts, including legal frameworks, to counter deeply rooted gender-based discrimination that often results from patriarchal attitudes and related social norms. Ocean<\/h2><\/div>
<\/a><\/span><\/div><\/div>

The ocean feeds us, regulate our climate, and generate most of the oxygen we breathe. They also serve as the foundation for much of the world\u2019s economy, supporting sectors from tourism to fisheries to international shipping. But despite their importance, the ocean is facing unprecedented threats as a result of human activity. Every year, an estimated 8 million tonnes of plastic waste end up in the world\u2019s oceans. At the same time, climate change is damaging coral reefs and other key ecosystems; overfishing is threatening the stability of fish stocks; nutrient pollution is contributing to the creation of dead zones; and nearly 80 per cent of the world\u2019s wastewater is discharged without treatment.
