Tuesday, 7 April       

Today is the International Day of Reflection on the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi in Rwanda. At 10:00 a.m., the International Day will be commemorated in the General Assembly Hall of United Nations Headquarters in New York. The commemoration is organized by the Outreach Programme on the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda and the United Nations of the Department of Global Communications, and the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Rwanda to the United Nations in New York. Today, the will hold a briefing on the protection of civilians in armed conflict.

Noon briefing guest will be Laila Baker, Regional Director (Arab States), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), who will brief on Lebanon, highlighting the urgent and specific needs of women and girls in this crisis.

At 10:00 a.m., the ECOSOC Management Meetings will take place in the ECOSOC Chamber at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The event is supported by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA).

Noon briefing guest will be Li Junhua, Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), on the launch of the 2026 Financing for Sustainable Development Report. The report assesses progress on financing for the Sustainable Development Goals and sets out concrete recommendations for consideration by Member States.
