The President of the General Assembly, H.E. Khalilur Rahman, met today with Ms. Sima Bahous, Executive Director of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women).
The discussion focused on advancing gender equality and strengthening cooperation between the Office of the President of the General Assembly and UN Women. The meeting also covered preparations for the Women Leaders Lunch during High-Level Week and opportunities to further institutionalize gender perspectives within the President’s Office, including through a possible Gender Equality Board. Both parties agreed to maintain close cooperation in advancing shared priorities and promoting the rights and empowerment of women and girls across the UN system.
