The President of the eighty-first session of the United Nations General Assembly, H.E. Khalilur Rahman, met with H.E. Mr. Azali Assoumani, President of the Union of the Comoros.
They acknowledged the triple planetary crisis of climate, biodiversity loss and pollution. Both Presidents also addressed the severe impact of sea-level rise and mountain-related challenges.
The President of the Union of the Comoros called on the United Nations General Assembly to consider the impact of conflict and climate on small island developing States.
The discussion also touched on peace, security and sovereignty issues across the Indian Ocean.
The President of the General Assembly pledged his support for African countries and island nations and pledged his advocacy to promote solutions related to human rights, sustainable development and peace and security.
