To all Permanent Representatives and Permanent Observers · 6 October 2026

The President invites all Permanent Representatives and Permanent Observers to a special event, “A Planet Fit for the Future: Restoring Trust through Climate Action”, to be held on 16 October 2026 in the Economic and Social Council Chamber. Convened in the lead-up to the thirty-first session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in November 2026, it is in two parts: a general discussion on key priorities for COP31, with particular attention to the needs and circumstances of vulnerable countries, and a moderated panel on the interconnected risks related to glacier and ice-sheet loss, mountain instability, water insecurity and sea-level rise. Delegations inscribe through e-deleGATE; statements in the general discussion are limited to three minutes in a national capacity and five minutes on behalf of a group of States.
