A joint letter of the President of the General Assembly and the President of the Security Council informing Member States that the Permanent Missions of Brazil and of Mexico have notified them of the withdrawal of the candidature of Ms. Michelle Bachelet Jeria for the position of Secretary-General. In line with General Assembly resolution 79/327, the candidature is considered withdrawn with effect from 21 September 2026. The joint communication received from the two Permanent Missions is forwarded with the letter.
