The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with H.E. Mr.?Ulisses?Correia e Silva,?Prime Minister of Cabo Verde, on the sidelines of the 2022 United Nations Ocean Conference in Lisbon.

The President of the General Assembly?expressed his appreciation to Prime Minister Correia e Silva for?attending the Ocean Conference?and?noted?the importance of the event for?big-ocean states like Cabo Verde and the Maldives.?President Shahid also?affirmed?his confidence?on?the success of the Ocean Conference?and noted?that?the event would?add?a?much-needed new chapter of global ocean action.

Prime Minister?Correia e Silva?thanked the President of the General Assembly for providing a strong voice in support of Small Island Developing States?(SIDS)?and?highlighted Cabo Verde¡¯s environmental priorities.?Furthermore, the Prime Minister?hoped that the planned Multidimensional?Vulnerability Index (MVI)?would allow for the recognition of the specificities of SIDS?in their quest for sustainable development.
