Eva Sch\u00e4fer<\/p><\/div>\n
Adviser\u00a0<\/span>| Gender<\/span><\/h3>\nEva Sch\u00e4fer is an adviser on gender issues in the Office of the President of the 73rd<\/sup>\u00a0Session of the United Nations General Assembly. Additionally, she serves as the liaison for the Eastern European Group.\u00a0During the 72nd<\/sup>\u00a0Session of the General Assembly, Eva was an adviser on sustainable development, in particular health and water issues.<\/p>\nEva is a career diplomat in the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Between 2012 and 2016, she was a human rights expert at the Permanent Mission of Hungary to the United Nations in New York.<\/p>\n
During this period, Eva served as Hungary\u2019s delegate in the General Assembly\u2019s Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee (Third Committee) and as Vice-Chair of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) Conference of States Parties for the Eastern European Group (EEG). She was also actively engaged in the negotiations on the 2030 Agenda during Hungary\u2019s chairmanship of the Open Working Group on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<\/p>\n
Prior to her posting, Eva worked on UN budget and reform issues in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Budapest. During Hungary\u2019s European Union (EU) Presidency in 2011, she represented EU Member States in the budget negotiations of the General Assembly\u2019s Administrative and Budgetary Committee (Fifth Committee).<\/p>\n
In addition to her career in the Hungarian foreign service, Eva also worked for the\u00a0\u00a0United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the EU Delegation in Washington D.C., in the United States of America.<\/p>\n
Eva has a Masters degree in International Relations from Corvinus University in Budapest. She speaks English, German, Hungarian, Spanish and some French.<\/p>\n
