Inga Kanchaveli is the Adviser on legal issues in the Office of the President of the 72nd Session of the UN General Assembly. Besides legal issues, her portfolio covers counter-terrorism and prevention of violent extremism, as well as revitalization of the work of the General Assembly. She serves as a focal point for the Legal Committee (Sixth Committee), rule of law and international courts and tribunals.<\/p>\n
A Georgian diplomat, she has worked for the United Nations Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Permanent Mission of Georgia to the United Nations. A primary focus of her portfolio has been the work of the UN General Assembly and legal and humanitarian issues, including humanitarian access and forced displacement. During her posting in New York, she was a delegate to the Sixth Committee from the 68th to 71st sessions of the General Assembly, and worked on topics related to the International Court of Justice and International Criminal Court. In 2017, she served as the Vice-President for the 27th meeting of States parties to the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.<\/p>\n
In addition, as an Elections Officer, she successfully coordinated campaigns in New York for Georgia’s candidatures to highly competitive international positions and various international bodies, including the post of Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in 2017.<\/p>\n
She speaks Georgian, English and Russian.<\/p>\n

She is a graduate of Dr. RML National Law University, India, with a combined Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws (Honours). Prior to her internship with the Office of the President of the General Assembly, Ambreen worked at an Intellectual Property law firm in India, with a particular focus on trade marks. While pursuing her Bachelor\u2019s course, she interned with the Women\u2019s Rights Cell of Lawyer\u2019s Collective, where she analyzed the trends in judicial announcements relating to the law of Protection of Women from Domestic Violence. While pursuing \u00a0additional internships in areas varying from intellectual property rights and corporate law to human rights law, she developed her skills in research and writing. Ambreen Fatima Anwar Husain is an intern with the Office of the President of the 71st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, New York, focusing on political issues. She is a graduate of Dr. RML National Law University, India, with a combined Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws (Honours). Prior to her internship with the Office of the President of the General Assembly, Ambreen worked at an Intellectual Property law firm in India, with a particular focus on trade marks. While pursuing her Bachelor\u2019s course, she interned with the Women\u2019s Rights Cell of Lawyer\u2019s Collective, where she analyzed the trends in judicial announcements relating to the law of Protection of Women from Domestic Violence. While pursuing \u00a0additional internships in areas varying from intellectual property rights and corporate law to human rights law, she developed her skills in research and writing.
