The United Nations Expert Group on the Integration of Statistical and Geospatial Information (UN EG-ISGI) held its third meeting on 25-26 April at OECD premises in Paris, France, immediately prior to the 64th plenary session of the Conference of European Statisticians (CES), held from 27-29 April 2016, at the same venue.

The meeting was convened in accordance with Statistical Commission decision 44/101 and UN-GGIM decision 3/107, which welcomed the proposal to establish an Expert Group on the Integration of Statistical and Geospatial Information to bring together experts from both statistical and geospatial information communities to work for the development a global geospatial-statistical framework and address issues related to the integration of statistical and geospatial information.

The Paris meeting aimed to (i) review the outcomes of the members' consultation on the proposal of a global statistical-geospatial framework, initiated by the UN Statistical Commission and UN-GGIM; (ii) focus on the prioritisation of topics of the Expert Group future program; (iii) discuss ways of coordination of activity on standards modernization and interoperability; and (iv) discuss other integration of statistical and geospatial information-related activities.
