The Anti-Racism Office and UN Women invite you to join ¡°Honouring our Values at Home: Advancing anti-racism, gender equality and women¡¯s rights in the United Nations¡±, an event to recognize progress, opportunities and challenges in addressing racism and advancing gender parity in the United Nations.

The event will take place on Wednesday, 28 October 2026, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. (EDT), in person in the ECOSOC Chamber at United Nations Headquarters in New York, and for colleagues outside New York. All staff based in New York are encouraged to attend in person. The event will also be broadcast live on UN Web TV.

Addressing historically complex and deeply rooted inequality, particularly as it relates to race and gender, requires courage and commitment. In the Secretariat, progress has included the strengthening of accountability measures, expanded opportunities for dialogue and engagement, increased attention to systemic racial inequities, and continued efforts to advance women's leadership and representation. At the same time, much work remains to be done. Racism, racial discrimination, and gender inequality are systemic challenges that cannot be fully addressed through short-term measures. Building on the foundations already established, further efforts are needed to implement policy reforms and ensure lasting institutional change.

Speakers will include:

  • Ant¨®nio Guterres, Secretary-General
  • Amina J. Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General
  • Sima Bahous, Executive Director, UN Women
  • Mojankunyane Gumbi, Special Adviser for Addressing Racism in the Workplace
  • Catherine Pollard, Under-Secretary-General for Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance

The following Anti-Racism Advocates, Gender Focal Points and Staff Representatives will also be featured:

  • Nalini Contreras, Regional Service Centre in Entebbe
  • Narda Cupidore, United Nations Staff Union
  • Milos Krivokuca, United Nations Development Programme
  • Dorcus Lourien, Department of Safety and Security
  • Nikolas Zografos, Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance
